John Ritter made his first TV appearance in The Dating Game in 1970 and his first TV acting experience was in the TV series “Dan August” in 1971. He made guest appearances on several shows including “Hawaii Five-O,” “M*A*S*H”, and several others. From 1972-1976, Ritter had a recurring role on the drama series “The Waltons.”

Doctors initially treated him for a heart attack, but his condition worsened, and he was pronounced dead that evening from an aortic dissection.
In 2008, Ritter’s widow Amy Yasbeck filed lawsuits against the doctors who treated him at the hospital. The lawsuits against the center were settled out of court for $9.4 million. A $67 million wrongful-death lawsuit against two of the physicians, radiologist Matthew Lotysch and cardiologist Joseph Lee, went to trial. Yasbeck accused Lee of misdiagnosing Ritter’s condition as a heart attack, and Lotysch of failing to detect an enlargement of Ritter’s aorta two years earlier. However, in 2008, the Los Angeles County Superior Court jury ruled that the doctors who treated Ritter were not negligent and not responsible for his death.

In 1996, actor John Ritter purchased a home in Beverly Hills, California for $2.2 million. Following his passing, his widow Amy Yasbeck listed the property for sale in 2017 for $6.5 million.
After receiving multiple offers, Yasbeck ultimately sold the home in August of that year for $55,000 over the asking price.
